Getting started with our 4th grade year!

Since school started we have been reading almost every day.  This year we have a new program called Reading Results.  During results we read with students who are on our same Independent Reading level.  We read together and have reading centers.  Nichelle says her favorite center has been writing!  We use the I PICK strategy (from Daily 5) to select our Independent Reading books.

This year we're going to be starting International Baccalaureate! This year Miss Dahl's Scholars are learning about the ten learner profiles that go along with International Baccalaureate. Antonique stated that our classroom is very Caring! Our classroom also shows a second learner profile by being great Communicators and working together in groups. We are very excited to dive into our new way of learning and discovering the world of International Baccalaureate.

One of our favorite projects so far has been making our hopes and dreams stars. During this project we drew a picture of what we wanted to do when we grow up in the center of a star. On the points of the star our classroom put how we were going to achieve our overall goal. Once our stars were finished, the stars were hung up on the front of our room for everyone to see.

Miss Dahl's classroom has been learning a chant to help us get through the year. The chant goes like this:
Teacher: Who are you?!
Students: I am the greatest!!
Teacher: What do you want?!
Students: I want to learn!!
Teacher: What do you demand?!
Students: I demand that no one interferes with my learning including myself!!!
This chant helps us focus on our goals and that we are the CLASS OF 2024!!
