My Interview with Vickie

It was a exciting  day because it was career and professionals day and we need to do something so we needed to do a project.  We thought about different careers and Ms. Dahl let us pick from the people she knows to send emails to learn about their job.  I picked Mrs. Dahl, Miss Dahl's mom!   Mrs. Dahl works at a college and helps students find out how they'll pay for college.  My first questions was do she love her job she said yes she loves her job a lot!  She shared that she has worked there since 1995.  The second question was if she uses her computer.  She said she uses her computer all the time. She is at work from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.  The easy part of her job is talking to people and helping them.  The hard part of her job is dealing with students who are upset and she tries to help them.

My Interview with Antoine

Hello I emailed to Antoine.  He works for Washington Hospital Center.  he had worked with 5 years old and as old as 90.  Who were born with a chemical imbalance in their brain which affects different people making them feel very depressed.  And sad a lot, hear voices, and/or have different moods.

A good part is knowing a career in the field pays pretty well depending on how much education and experience one has.

He lastly said I encourage each and every one of you.  No matter what you want to do in life to stay focused, stay in school, and follow your dreams.  Sometime things may seem very hard but always believe in yourself and never give up.

One thing I learned from my interview with Antoine was how people are very different but they all deserve to be treated nicely and respectfully.  Antoine's job is very challenging because he works with people with mental illnesses but he wants them each to get better.

An Interview with Kate R., from WTOP

I emailed Kate R. from WTOP radio. I wanted to learn more about her career on the radio.

I learned is that being on the radio is hard because you work 1am to 9am.  In Ms. R's job she does not do a lot of interviews of famous people.  She is called a "beat reporter".  You have to work hard so you can be on the radio.  With this assignment she works with people in the Washington DC area.  I learned many other interesting things about Ms. R and her job!

Hi everyone-

Finding equivalent fractions is the standard we need to work on the most. Today I updated our class Symbaloo page to include links to 3 activities that will help you/your child practice identifying and describing equivalent fractions. Happy practicing!

Wrapping up the Explorers Unit

I learned that explorers wanted to find land, spices, gold, and treasure . Technology helped me because it helped me to learn more about Ponce de Leon and his life. My favorite part was when we were working together on the boats and making every thing because we made all of the stuff on our own.

Hi everyone:

I uploaded the videos from our Living Museum onto YouTube!  Remember, if you're a 4th grader you need to grab an adult because some of the advertisements aren't appropriate for us.
